Ballistic Protection
NIJ STD-0101.06
Stops pistol projectiles — .44 Mag, .357 SIG, 9mm FMJ. Rated by velocity and projectile type. Standard soft panels are ballistic-only.
Spike Resistance
NIJ STD-0115.00 — Spike
Resists pointed objects: needles, picks, awls, and improvised weapons. Critical for corrections and close-contact environments. Separate from Edge/Blade.
Edge/Blade Resistance
NIJ STD-0115.00 — Edged Blade
Resists knife and razor blades. A separate test category from Spike. Do not assume Spike-rated armor provides Edge/Blade protection unless specifically tested and documented.
